Lifecycle dates sourced from Fortinet's official End-of-Order / End-of-Support announcements. EoO = last day to order new units; EoS = last day for service contract renewal; EoL = last day of support coverage. Throughput numbers are datasheet figures with NGFW services enabled; real-world performance varies with traffic mix and Ogma sizes against observed headroom. Beyond the 4400F sits the chassis-class FortiGate 7000-series for tier-1 carrier deployments.
Bundle tier comparison
The hardware is one line on the quote — the subscription bundle is the bigger annual number and the one that determines what security features are actually live on the device. Pick the tier that matches your deployment, not the lowest one.

FortiCare
Bare-minimum support contract. No threat protection services. Only choose if you're a Fortinet-experienced shop that will run an unsubscribed-features deployment with separate IDS / IPS infrastructure.
ATP Bundle
The cost-conscious tier. Covers IPS + AV + Web Filtering + Anti-Spam — the core threat-protection services every production firewall needs. Choose if you don't run OT or industrial workloads.
UTP Bundle POPULAR
The most commonly procured tier in India. ATP + Application Control + DNS Filter + Industrial Security. Right answer for 80% of Indian deployments — covers OT visibility, SaaS app policy, and DNS-layer protection.
Enterprise Bundle
UTP + FortiSandbox Cloud + FortiCASB + Security Rating. The right tier for BFSI, healthcare, and any DPDPA Significant-Data-Fiduciary deployment. Adds detonation sandboxing for unknown threats.
Term length — why most Indian buyers pick 3-year
Multi-year procurement isn't just about saving on the sticker price. It locks the INR cost for the full term, removes annual FX re-quotation friction, and gets you a noticeably better effective monthly cost. Most of our Indian buyers land on 3-year as the sweet spot.
Annual renewal. Most flexible — useful if the deployment is a pilot or the deployment scope is changing year-on-year. Highest effective monthly rate of the three options.
- Easiest budget approval for new projects
- Re-quoted annually at the prevailing INR ↔ USD rate
- Best for short-pilot / proof-of-concept rollouts
The Indian-market sweet spot. INR price locks for the full 36 months — no FX re-quotation, no renewal scramble in years 1 and 2. Effective monthly cost meaningfully better than 1-year.
- FX-locked INR pricing for 36 months
- One procurement workflow instead of three
- Aligns with most Indian capex / AMC cycles
Best effective monthly cost. Right answer for stable, well-understood deployments — government, BFSI, large manufacturing where the deployment isn't going to change shape for half a decade.
- Lowest effective monthly cost of the three
- Aligned with refresh-and-replace 5-year cycles
- Some buyers split: 5-yr support, 3-yr bundle
What drives the final quote
Six factors set the final number on a FortiGate quotation. We surface each one transparently in the line items so you can see exactly what's driving the cost.
Model selected
The largest single line on the quote. Sized against peak concurrent sessions, internet bandwidth, branch user count, SSL-inspection percentage, and HA requirement. Ogma sizes against observed headroom, not peak datasheet figures.
Bundle tier
FortiCare / ATP / UTP / Enterprise. The bundle is the recurring annual line. UTP is the sweet spot for the majority of Indian deployments; Enterprise is appropriate for BFSI / healthcare / SDF customers running detonation sandboxing.
Term length
1, 3, or 5-year subscription. 3-year is the most popular Indian-market choice. Longer terms get better effective monthly cost AND lock the INR price against FX movement.
Quantity
Volume changes the per-unit number. A 5-firewall branch rollout quotes at a different effective rate than a single-device purchase. Pricing brackets reflect realistic Indian channel discount tiers.
Project context
BFSI deployments, government tenders, GeM procurement, and PSU orders all have distinct pricing dynamics. Ogma factors in any vertical-specific Fortinet programmes you may qualify for.
Trade-in / refresh
If you have EoS / EoL FortiGate hardware to retire, the Fortinet Trade-Up programme adds credit toward the new units. Worth disclosing during sizing — material savings on refresh deals.
Sizing guide — which model fits your environment
A rough-but-accurate starting point. Ogma confirms the exact sizing during the quoting conversation — sometimes the obvious model is wrong because of SSL-inspection load, HA topology, or peak concurrent session requirements that aren't reflected in user-count alone.
| Environment | Users | Internet bandwidth | Typical FortiGate model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home office, contractor site | 1–10 | Up to 200 Mbps | 40F |
| Small branch / retail outlet | 10–50 | Up to 500 Mbps | 60F |
| Medium branch / smaller office | 50–150 | Up to 1 Gbps | 90G (80F past EoO) |
| Larger branch / sub-HQ | 150–300 | 1–2 Gbps | 90G or 120G (100F past EoO) |
| Campus or regional HQ | 300–800 | 2–5 Gbps | 120G (200F past EoO) |
| Large enterprise edge | 800–2,000 | 5–10 Gbps | 400F or 900G (600F past EoO) |
| Data centre / large enterprise | 2,000–10,000 | 10–40 Gbps | 900G or 1800F |
| Hyperscale / carrier-grade | 10,000+ | 40 Gbps+ | 2600F / 3500F / 4200F / 4400F |
Caveat — if you do heavy SSL inspection (TLS-decryption on 50%+ of egress), the effective throughput drops to roughly one-third of the unscanned datasheet number. Step up one model tier from the table above. Ogma confirms this during sizing.

Indian procurement paths
Four standard ways Indian organisations buy FortiGate through Ogma. Each has different paperwork, lead times, and approval workflows — we operate all four.
Direct purchase order
The most common path. Customer issues a PO against Ogma's INR quote, Ogma supplies against the PO, customer pays per the payment terms. Typical end-to-end: 2–3 weeks for standard SKUs, 5–10 days for in-stock buffer items.
GeM (Government e-Marketplace)
For PSUs, ministries, and government departments. Ogma is listed on GeM with Fortinet SKU coverage. Procurement runs through the GeM bid / direct purchase workflow with embedded reverse-auction support.
BFSI tender response
For banks and NBFCs. Ogma responds to RFI / RFP / RFQ tenders with full FortiGate Security Fabric scope. Common: 2-stage technical + commercial bid evaluation; Ogma supplies all RBI / SEBI compliance evidence as part of the response.
MSME / startup procurement
For MSME-registered Indian businesses. Eligible for MSME-specific terms (extended payment cycle, faster onboarding). Ogma operates MSME-friendly contracting; payment terms typically NET-30 with a small upfront percentage.
What's included with every Ogma-supplied FortiGate
Items that don't appear as separate line items because we don't charge for them. They're built into the partner relationship.
GST-compliant tax invoice
GSTIN-bearing invoice with full Input Tax Credit eligibility. Compliant with current Indian GST regulations. Indian-entity contracting end-to-end.
Genuine Fortinet warranty
Fortinet manufacturer warranty registered on the customer's entity. Access to FortiCare support portal from day one. SLA-bound RMA process.
Initial configuration support
Basic firewall setup, policy bring-up, and interface zoning by a Fortinet-certified Ogma engineer — included in the quote.
Pan-India delivery
Metro cities 2–3 business days, tier-2 cities 4–6 days. Bulk orders (20+ units) typically allow 2–3 weeks for procurement and dispatch.
Pre-sales sizing consultation
Fortinet-certified engineers assess your environment — user count, bandwidth, SSL-inspection load, HA needs — and recommend the right model, bundle, and term against real-world headroom.
Free configuration audit
Already running FortiGate? Free configuration review to identify policy gaps, lurking misconfigurations, and security improvements.
Renewal & refresh — what happens at end of term
FortiGate subscriptions don't auto-renew. Fortinet does not operate a grace window — the moment the subscription expires, FortiGuard signature updates stop. The IPS engine keeps running on a frozen signature database, but no new threats are covered. Ogma surfaces the renewal track 90 days ahead so the cycle never slips.
T-90 days
Ogma flags upcoming renewal. We share a renewal quote at 90 / 60 / 30-day intervals so procurement has runway for approvals.
T-0 (renewal day)
Renewal must execute by this date. PO against the renewal quote, Fortinet activates the new subscription term, FortiGuard signatures continue without interruption, FortiCare support coverage stays active.
T+1 lapse begins
FortiGuard updates stop immediately at expiry. IPS engine keeps forwarding traffic but operates on the signature database frozen at the expiry date — no new CVE coverage, no new threat patterns. Hardware RMA via FortiCare is also paused.
Backdated recovery
The recovery path Fortinet supports is a backdated renewal — you pay for the lapse period plus a late-renewal penalty, and Fortinet restores continuity from the original expiry date. Cleanest way to fix a slip, but adds 15–25% cost vs renewing on time. Compliance evidence stays unbroken.
EoS refresh
When your model approaches End-of-Sale (no more new orders), Ogma surfaces the Trade-Up path for credit toward current-gen hardware. EoS does not stop renewals — those continue until End-of-Support, typically 5 years after EoO.
Scope expansion
If your environment has grown (more users, more bandwidth, new sites), the renewal cycle is a natural moment to right-size — sometimes the same firewall, sometimes a step up to a G-series model.
