Ping Test

Ping a host to check if it is reachable and measure round-trip latency from our Indian data centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Ping Test tool.

Ping sends ICMP echo requests and measures the round-trip time (RTT) and packet loss between the source and destination. It's the fastest way to check if a host is reachable and how latent the path is.

Many hosting providers (AWS, GCP) and firewalls drop inbound ICMP by default. The server may be fully operational — try a TCP port check on 80/443 instead. Hosts behind Cloudflare also don't respond to ICMP by default.

Within India, you should see 5–40ms. To Singapore/HK: 60–90ms. To EU: 150–200ms. To US West: 200–250ms. To US East: 250–350ms. Anything over those by more than ~30% suggests a routing issue.

Packet loss is the percentage of ping packets that didn't make the round trip. 0% is healthy. 1–2% is often tolerable for web traffic. Over 5% will cause noticeable problems for VoIP, video calls, and TCP throughput.
