Oracle SPARC Services & Capabilities

End-to-end SPARC hardware lifecycle — procurement to migration.

SPARC T-Series Servers

Oracle SPARC T-Series (T7, T8, S7) — multi-threading SPARC processors for Java, Oracle DB, and middleware workloads. Procurement of new and certified refurbished units.

SPARC M-Series Servers

Oracle SPARC M-Series (M7, M8) — large SMP servers for high-memory Oracle DB consolidation. Up to 32 TB RAM per system. Suitable for very large in-memory database workloads.

Break-Fix & Spare Parts

Ogma maintains a spare parts inventory for common SPARC and Sun x86 server components. On-site break-fix support with defined response SLAs — NBD and 4-hour options available.

x86 Migration

SPARC-to-x86 migration consulting — workload assessment, Solaris to Linux/Oracle Linux migration path, Oracle DB re-platforming from SPARC to Intel Xeon with performance benchmarking.

Solaris Support

Oracle Solaris 11 and Solaris 10 support — patching, zone management (Solaris Containers), ZFS administration, and security hardening on SPARC and x86 Solaris platforms.

EOSL Coverage

Extended support for Sun/Oracle hardware that has reached End of Service Life (EOSL). Ogma provides third-party maintenance (TPM) for EOSL SPARC servers — avoiding Oracle's costly support extension fees.

Why Ogma for Oracle SPARC?

Expertise, inventory, and migration capability — all under one contract.

SPARC Expertise

Ogma engineers have hands-on experience with Oracle SPARC T-Series, M-Series, and Sun legacy platforms — including Solaris 10 and 11.x administration.

Spare Parts Inventory

Ogma maintains inventory of common SPARC components — DIMMs, CPUs, power supplies, and I/O cards — enabling rapid hardware replacement without long Oracle lead times.

Migration-Ready Team

Ogma's SPARC-to-x86 migration team handles the full project — from workload compatibility assessment to Oracle DB re-platforming on Intel Xeon running Oracle Linux or RHEL.

How It Works

From initial assessment to long-term support or migration.

1
Hardware Assessment

Ogma reviews your SPARC fleet — models, age, workloads, Oracle support status — and recommends procurement, AMC, or migration.

2
Procurement or AMC

For new or refurbished hardware, Ogma sources and deploys. For AMC, Ogma establishes monitoring, baseline, and spare parts readiness.

3
Break-Fix Dispatch

On hardware failure, Ogma engineers dispatch to site with required spare parts — response per SLA (NBD or 4-hour on-site).

4
Migration Planning

If migrating to x86, Ogma builds the migration plan — workload mapping, Oracle DB re-platforming, testing, and production cutover with defined RTO.

Frequently Asked Questions

Oracle SPARC server procurement, support, and migration questions answered.

Yes — Ogma procures new Oracle SPARC T-Series and M-Series servers through Oracle's authorized channel. Delivery timelines vary (typically 6–10 weeks for new SPARC hardware due to import lead times).

Yes — Ogma provides third-party maintenance for EOSL SPARC and Sun x86 servers including hardware break-fix, spare parts supply, and basic Solaris OS support. This is significantly cheaper than Oracle's extended support fees.

Yes — Ogma has experience migrating Oracle Database, WebLogic, and Java applications from SPARC/Solaris to Oracle Linux or RHEL on Intel Xeon servers. We assess application compatibility, recommend the migration approach, and execute with minimal downtime.

Modern Intel Xeon (4th/5th Gen Scalable) generally outperforms SPARC for Oracle OLTP workloads at lower cost. SPARC's advantage is its massive thread count for highly concurrent Java/middleware workloads, but even that lead has narrowed. Ogma recommends benchmarking your specific workload before migration.

Ogma engineers are experienced with Solaris 11.4, Solaris 11.3, Solaris 11.2, and Solaris 10 (on both SPARC and x86). We provide patching, zone administration, ZFS management, and SMF service management.

Ogma maintains inventory of common SPARC spare components (DIMMs, CPUs, power supplies, I/O cards) for T-Series and M-Series servers. For less common parts, we procure via our global spares network with 3–7 day delivery.

Ogma provides break-fix support under an annual contract — when hardware fails, Ogma engineers diagnose the fault, dispatch spare parts, and perform on-site repair. TPM does not include Oracle software support (Solaris patches, firmware from Oracle). It is a hardware-only support contract.
